Brief

The client arrived with a clear vision: she wanted an emerald cut diamond that felt timeless but not traditional. She admired the step facets and architectural lines of emerald cuts but requested a hidden halo to amplify brilliance without competing with the stone's elegant geometry. She specified a lab-grown diamond in the two-and-a-half carat range, prioritizing color and clarity over size alone. The setting needed to be 14K yellow gold, refined enough for daily wear yet substantial enough to showcase the diamond's presence.

We began with digital models that explored the proportions of the emerald cut stone against the 14K yellow gold band, testing basket depths until the hidden halo sat perfectly beneath the table. The renders allowed us to calibrate the prong height and ensure the 0.25-carat round halo remained invisible from above while maximizing side brilliance. She approved the final design when the profile view showed a delicate crown of light encircling the pavilion without compromising the solitaire silhouette.

Stone selection

The client prioritized both size and quality, so we sourced a 2.50-carat lab-grown emerald cut with IGI certification to guarantee transparency. The E color grade provided near-colorless brilliance that would remain crisp in yellow gold, while the VVS2 clarity ensured the stone's signature step facets would display cleanly without visible inclusions.
