She wanted something unmistakably vintage in spirit, feminine in detail, and centered on a marquise stone that elongated and commanded attention without relying on scale alone.
Stone selection
The accent stones were already defined — round brilliants graded D through F in color and VVS to VS in clarity, chosen to hold their own against the intricacy of the alternating halo without overpowering the center. For the marquise lab-grown diamond, we worked within that same upper tier of the color and clarity spectrum, selecting a stone whose elongated form would draw the eye outward along the finger and whose face-up presence would justify the vintage framework built around it.
Setting design

The alternating round-diamond halo was set to mirror the proportions of the marquise exactly, fanning outward in that starburst pattern rather than sitting flush, which lifts the eye and amplifies the face-up surface area of the center stone considerably.
