She loved the elongated elegance of the shape but wanted to layer in the vintage warmth she remembered from her grandmother's estate jewelry. She asked for delicate milgrain engraving, a decorative cluster of round accent diamonds, and details that would feel like an heirloom rather than something newly made. The vision was clear: modern proportions softened by old-world craft.

Our design team translated her vision into detailed 3D renders, exploring how the marquise diamond would sit within the vintage cluster. We tested various prong placements to ensure the elongated stone felt secure yet visible, adjusted the milgrain density along the knife edge band, and refined the spacing of the round accent diamonds to create balanced symmetry. She approved the final render showing delicate scrollwork that framed the marquise without overwhelming its elegant profile, locking the proportions before metalwork began.

Stone selection

We sourced an IGI certified marquise lab-grown diamond in E color and VVS2 clarity, chosen for its near colorless warmth and eye clean brilliance. The 2ct center stone was cut to excellent proportions, ensuring the elongated facets would maximize light return while maintaining the vintage aesthetic she envisioned. The E grade balanced purity with subtle character, while VVS2 clarity guaranteed flawless beauty to the naked eye a foundation worthy of heirloom status.

Setting

The setting was executed in 14K gold with a vintage cluster arrangement that honored the client's heirloom vision. The marquise was secured in a protective four-prong head, deliberately kept low to balance elegance with everyday wearability. Around it, eighteen points of round brilliant diamonds were positioned in a decorative halo pattern, each bead set to echo antique styling. Fine milgrain edging was hand-engraved along the knife edge band and gallery rails, adding texture and dimension that photographed beautifully and caught light from every angle.
