We built the design around a 2ct E VVS2 oval lab-grown diamond in 14K white gold, adding a hidden halo of round brilliant stones that echo the delicate petal motifs from her inspiration. The matching wedding band carries an additional 0.15 carats in a slender pavé line, creating a seamless bridal set. The result is soft, sculptural, and entirely her own an engagement ring that honors the poetry of her original vision while translating it into wearable form.

Brief

The client arrived with a detailed mood board that layered white blossoms, hand-drawn organic sketches, and marquise diamond references. She described a vision rooted in soft femininity and timeless romance, but asked us to reinterpret the concept around an oval center stone instead. She wanted the design to feel botanical without being literal, with subtle halo detailing and a matching wedding band that could nest seamlessly. The brief called for lab-grown diamond quality at the highest grade, set in white gold to keep the palette clean and luminous.

We began with digital renders that explored how the oval center stone would sit inside a hidden halo framework. Early versions tested different band widths and the height of the halo, ensuring the round brilliant accents would lift the oval without competing visually. She approved a low-profile basket that let the E VVS2 clarity shine through from every angle, and we locked the matching band's pavé alignment so it would nest flush against the engagement ring's hidden gallery.

Stone selection

The client valued purity and brilliance above all, so we sourced a 2ct oval lab-grown diamond graded E color and VVS2 clarity virtually colorless and flawless to the naked eye. The IGI certification confirmed the excellent cut that gives an oval its signature bow-tie-free sparkle. We selected lab-grown specifically for its ethical footprint and value, allowing us to maximize carat weight and quality within her budget while honoring the organic, mindful aesthetic she had built her entire brief around.

Setting

The hidden halo became the bridge between restraint and drama. Twenty points of round brilliants were set beneath the oval's girdle, radiating light upward without altering the ring's profile from above. The 14K white gold cathedral head was kept low to honor everyday wearability, while four V-shaped prongs secured the corners of the oval center stone. The halo's micro-pavé work required a microscope and steady hands, each stone grain-set to eliminate visible metal between the diamonds.

The finished ring arrived as a quiet statement in 14K white gold, the one-carat oval center stone floating above its hidden halo with the restraint she requested.
